For the American Performer series, Fender revisited and redesigned the electronics, creating a new line of pickups, named "Yosemite." The Mustang pickup retains it original personality, and adds a touch of "attack dog" when you open the volume pot wide. Back off the tone knob, and Fender's unique Greasebucket circuit keeps the tone from getting muddy when you get mellow.
