Same great performance as the original
Electro-Harmonix has found a chip that accurately replicates the performance of the Panasonic Bucket Brigade chips found in the original Memory Man pedals. Not only does this chip, the Xvive MN3005, sound like the older chips, but its supply ensures the survival of one of the most coveted delay pedals in history. Every MN3005 chip is thoroughly tested by EHX to ensure it’s 100% equal in performance to the Panasonics. With the Deluxe Memory Man 550-TT, you get everything that’s great about the older pedals in a more reliable package.
EHX 550-TT vs 1100-TT: which should I buy?
It all comes down to delay time. Like the original Memory Man, the 550-TT is capable of over a half-second (550ms) of pure analog delay; but the 1100-TT boasts an astounding 1.1 seconds. Both boxes include old-spec bucket brigade ICs, carefully chosen to capture the sound of the original, and sport the same friendly layout with expression pedal input and effects loop. If you can afford the upgrade, the 1100’s added delay time is worth the money. But for most of us in search of Edge-type delays and Gilmour-esque leads, the Electro-Harmonix 550-TT will serve just fine.
